Growing up, my kids had two favorite snacks: gorp and marshmallow bars. We always had them stocked in our pantry. At some point, they became bored of the usual and wanted a change. So we combined their two favorites into gorp bars. They were an instant hit and a welcome change from the usual snacks.
When our gorp bar supply ran low, they were both very eager to make more. It was very important the bars were just right, so everyone would pull up a stool and helped stir and press.
These bars are a great way to get your children excited about being in the kitchen. With an adult handling the melted butter and marshmallows, they can safely measure and mix the ingredients.
These bars are a breeze to make as well as being easy to transport in a plastic container or bag. These gorp bars are not only perfect for a cook out or party, but they will delight the kid in everyone.
